Indian ICCR Undergraduate Scholarships Offered under Nehru Memorial/Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Schemes 2024/25

Invitation for Eligible Sri Lankans to Apply for 60 Undergraduate Scholarships for 2024/25 Academic Year

01. General Eligibility Requirements:

(a) Sri Lankan citizenship is mandatory.

(b) Applicants must be between 18-40 years old by the deadline of 25.02.2024.

(c) A minimum of three passes at the 2022 G.C.E. (A/L) examination in relevant fields conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka is required.

(d) Proficiency in English is necessary (minimum “C” pass in English at the G.C.E. O/L examination and “S” pass at the G.C.E A/L examination).

(e) Good health and readiness to reside in India during the study period are prerequisites.

(f) Applicants should not be registered or following a course at a state university in Sri Lanka as an internal student in a basic degree programme.

  • Applicants in the Engineering (BE/B. Tech) stream can apply for only one scholarship program, either Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Program or Nehru Memorial Scholarship Program.
  • Medical/Paramedical (Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.)/ Fashion Design/Law courses are not covered under the ICCR scholarship council.

04. Terms of Award:

The Scholarship includes full tuition fees, monthly sustenance allowance, an annual grant for books and stationery, airfare to the nearest destination in India, annual grant for educational tours, and hostel facility inside the respective campus.

05. Special Notes:

a) Scholarship recipients will not be considered for university admission through the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. b) Award conditions may vary as per Indian authorities’ criteria without prior notice. c) Candidates must select Higher Educational institutes recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. d) Declining the offer after selection will disqualify candidates from other Ministry of Education scholarships. e) Candidates already nominated for a Ministry of Education scholarship will not be considered under this scheme. f) No extension of the scholarship period will be recommended.

a) Online application available at: https://foreignscholarships.mohe.gov.lk/ b) Deadline for application submission: 25th February 2024 c) Applicants should submit only one online application; postal submissions are not required. d) Incorrect/false statements in the application will lead to disqualification. e) Incomplete or late applications will be rejected.

07. Nominations & Selections:

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Z. score and will be called for an interview by the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka.
  • Nominations will be forwarded to the Indian ICCR scholarship awarding authority through the High Commission of India. Nomination does not confirm the award.
  • Any form of canvassing, written or verbal, will lead to disqualification.
